Automated sustainability reporting meets turnkey ESG assurance

Feb. 17, 2023
Acuity's Atrius customers will now receive enhanced sustainability data through Apex’s specialized Sustainability and Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance (ESG) services.

Atrius, part of the Intelligent Spaces Group within Acuity Brands (NYSE: AYI), on Feb. 15 announced a new agreement with multidisciplinary consulting and engineering firm Apex Companies. Through the collaboration, Atrius customers will receive enhanced sustainability data through Apex’s specialized Sustainability and Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance (ESG) services.

Atrius in a press announcement points out that companies worldwide are navigating new ESG regulatory requirements, as well as growing demand from clients, suppliers, and vendors, to report on their carbon impact. As a result, enterprises of all sizes are seeking proven and effective technology and expertise to help meet ESG goals in a reliable, compliant and efficient manner.

In response to these challenges, the partners contend that via Apex’s position as a trusted provider of ESG assurance services, combined with the ease and scalability of Acuity’s Atrius Building Insights platform, businesses will be better equipped to confidently report their ESG progress "at a fraction of the cost and time spent using other methods."

Andrew Blauvelt, senior director of product management, Atrius, Acuity Brands, remarked:

“Organizations are facing a growing number of reporting requirements for corporate carbon emissions and are increasingly looking to experts like Atrius and Apex to help them get there. Our collaboration with Apex allows us to offer customers a complete turnkey solution with Atrius’ cutting-edge technology platform—saving both time and money so companies can focus on what really matters most for their business, and the environment.”

As reckoned by an Acuity press release, with more than half of public companies still managing ESG data in spreadsheets based on a recent Earnest and Young report, Atrius Building Insights provides clients with critical efficiency savings "by automating one of the most labor-intensive part of reaching sustainability goals—tracking and managing large amounts of data."

Apex president and CEO David Fabianski concluded:

“Across Apex and our partner network we continue to innovate and enhance our sustainability and ESG services. Atrius’ platform is a value-added element in helping our clients address their emerging needs, and we are excited to be working together with the Atrius team in making a net positive impact across our clients and communities.”
