Smart Buildings Exchange virtual conference addresses a changing energy landscape

July 12, 2021
The free online conference August 24-25 will tackle issues including grid-interactive buildings, data-driven approaches to IAQ, AI and ML in buildings, and include a virtual tour featuring a digital twin.

On August 24 and 25, Smart Buildings Exchange 2021 (SBX 2021) will be held as a free virtual event, featuring the latest information and technologies in the smart building industry. The event will showcase smart city and smart building projects and initiatives in the United States.

SBX 2021 is produced by Smart Buildings Center, which is a project of the Northwest Energy Efficiency Council. Describing SBX 2021 and the information-need that its program fills, Smart Buildings Center said, “Throughout the built environment, new technologies are connecting building systems and occupants in ways that generate new and exciting opportunities. From enabling buildings to perform for occupants and owners in previously unimaginable ways, to leveraging buildings to accelerate smart cities and the clean energy transition for a cleaner and healthier planet, the opportunities are countless and inspiring. The Smart Buildings Exchange brings together the key audiences to challenge the hype, bear witness to the innovation, and explore the business case for accelerating the adoption and commercialization of smart buildings technologies and practices.”

The agenda combines panels and single-presenter expert presentations. Titles include: Smart Buildings and a Changing Utility—A Vision of the New World of Energy; Grid-interactive Efficient Buildings; Workforce Skill Development for a Smart Building Future; Post-Covid Occupancy—A Data-driven Approach to Indoor Air Quality; Buildings and Carbon; Building the Business Case for Smart Building Investments; Smart Tech Systems Network Infrastructure—Best Practices; Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning in Buildings—The Future is Already Here; and Deriving Value from a Smarter Grid-interactive Building.

August 24 also includes a virtual building tour of 1 Manhattan West. According to the organizers, “This is not your standard building walk-through tour. Come explore the emerging reality of the digital twin building technology presented by Willow, one of the world’s leading companies in digital twin technology. As landlords, occupiers and governments are reconfiguring their investment priorities for physical assets in a post-Covid environment, digital twins are enabling them to maximize investments and extend the life of buildings. Willow is deploying this technology at Brookfield’s flagship tower in Manhattan, and this session will give you an inside look into this asset’s digital twin.”

The agenda also includes sponsor breakout rooms.
